Dr. Andrew Jordan, Jr Jordan Family Dentistry is truly a family practice, with father-son dentists. Andrew Jordan, Jr, whose father was also a dentist, has more than 40 years of extensive dentistry experience.
Dr. Jordan earned his Bachelor of Science from Texas University and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Baylor College of Dentistry. In 1991 he completed the highest degree offered by the American Academy of General Dentistry, (The Mastership Program) the M.A.G.D.. Dr. Jordan has over 4000 accredited C.E. hours in the field of general dentistry. Dr. Jordan was appointed to the Texas Dental Association Board of Directors, was nominated by the Texas Academy of General Dentistry for the Texas Dentist of the Year Award in 1999, and has served as President of the East Texas Dental Society, the Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas Dental Congress, and the Southwest Prosthodontist Society. He has also earned fellowships in the American Academy of General Dentistry, the American College of Dentistry and the Academy of Dentistry International. Arthur Jordan With a grandfather who was a dentist, a father who is a dentist and a mother who was a dental hygienist, it was probably inevitable that Dr. Arthur Jordan follow in the family's footsteps. He earned his D.D.S. degree from Baylor College of Dentistry and has practiced in Lufkin since 1993. He has been active in the East Texas Dental Society, serving as secretary/treasurer for four years, and is enrolled in the American Academy of General Dentistry fellowship program. He is presently a member of the Texas Dental Association, East Texas Dental Association, American Dental Association, Piney Woods Dental Study Club and the American Academy Of General Dentistry. | A Germ-Free Toothbrush
The runny nose, dry cough, body aches and the headache can mean only one thing: flu season has arrived. You got your flu shot, but it doesn't protect you from every type of flu known to humans, so there you are, in misery. You may not feel like crawling out of bed, but it's important to maintain your oral care routine while you are sick.
Oral bacteria don't take a vacation while you have the flu. Your gums can become infected and progress into periodontitis, which can result in tooth loss.
So, drag yourself into the bathroom, grab that toothbrush and…oh, there's more to this story now that I mentioned your toothbrush.
You may think you are thoroughly cleaning your toothbrush after each use, but the flu virus remains hidden in the bristles. Whatever gremlins lurk in your toothbrush will return to your mouth, adding to your already miserable state.  If you store your toothbrush holder on the countertop, germs from your brush will be deposited on other toothbrushes because water spatters when you rinse your brush. Now, you have successfully shared your flu with everyone.
Before you are in the clutches of the flu bug, buy a new toothbrush for yourself and anyone else who shares the toothbrush holder with you. Don't wait and drag the flu to the store with you.
Then, when the flu has run its course, buy another round of toothbrushes and get rid of the "old" ones; otherwise, you will reinfect yourself and anyone else.
