| New Year 20-10 or 2,010? |
Two thousand ten or 2,010?
At Harmony Christian School some of the students made inquiries to the question of the week which is: “Will you refer to the New Year as 20-10 or 2,010?”
|
Several of the 5th & 6th graders were interviewed and this is their response: Kadie Beth Wisener and Jeremy Kliman are going to say 20-10 because it sounds ‘catchy.’ Jordan Collard says he will refer to the New Year as 2,010 because he wants to. We also interviewed some 8th graders, their responses follow: Bethany Baldwin & Ashley Nichols said that they were going to say 20-10 because it was easier and much faster!! Kallie Wisener is going to say 2,010 because it was more original. The follow up question to these students was, “Why is it 2010 anyway? Two thousand and ten years from what?” Several of the students said we are counting up from the birth of Christ. That’s what 20-10 or 2,010 means to them. I also asked Coach Boone, what does 2010 mean to him personally and he said, “It is the start of something new!!!” The Bible says that, “every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord.” The year 2010 is two thousand and ten years since the death of Christ. This is why it is referred to 2010 A.D. (after the death of Christ). So everyone is already confessing Christ each time we write or say 2010.
