| Casa Ole Mexican Restaurant |
2115 South First St. (Hwy 59) Lufkin, TX As we stepped foot inside the door, we immediately knew it was going to be a fun experience. The atmosphere was very pleaseant.

We first stepped foot inside Casa Ole’s Tex Mex Restaurant and immediately knew this was a really fun place. I was a little disappointed they didn’t have any music playing in the background, I think that would just have set the perfect mood for the evening. While we were being greeted and seated with friendly smiles I noticed that there was a handful of people sitting in the bar area which is the only smoking area in the restaurant. I personally don’t smoke but I think it’s fair to have an area for that, plus you don’t see that in restaurants too often. I was really excited after we took our place and got their complimentary chips and salsas. I got even MORE excited when I tried their house specialty; avocado, spices, and sour cream salsa. I think this could quite possibly be one of the best salsas I have ever tasted! We skipped the appetizer which I kind of regret because I was curious to try their “La Yared” dip or as they like to call it “six layers of heaven” which contain 6 ingredients. It took us a minute to look at their menus because they had a variety of choices and it was awesome to see they have daily specials. I’d like to point out that skimming through their menu I saw they had lunch specials from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and you can add a cup of soup for only 99 cents. I liked that they had a fajita section and since that caught my eye I chose to get the “Angus Beef Fajitas”. This plate was served with char-boiled fajitas on a sizzling hot skillet, seasoned onions, and bell peppers. The plate included soft flour tortillas, rice, beans, pico de gallo, cheese, guacamole, and sour cream. It was wonderful that they offered a two person platter, therefore my date and I were able to split it with adequate portions. We completed our dinner with a traditional cinnamon, caramel, and honey Sopapillas dessert or “fried flour tortilla” that has your choice of sweet cherries or apples and is covered with a rum sauce and topped with vanilla ice cream which they call “Chimi Royal”. The prices were pretty standard standard for this area for Tex Mex food. The service was good although our waiter did not come around too often. I, at one point, had to catch another waiter’s attention for service. Other than that the restaurant was very clean and actually very interesting. We walked around and saw they had a traditional mural from one of our well known Lufkin artist Lance Hunter in their “Acapulco” room. This room is used for private parties or even business meetings. I recommend this restaurant to the people in Lufkin and give it a thumbs up! Try it out and let us know how your personal experience was....
